Extracellular volume(ECV) quantified by T1 mapping could reflect effect of long term blood pressure control status in patients with essential hypertension

چکیده
Background Diffuse myocardial fibrosis is an important pathophysiological process involved into essential hypertension which may increase myocardium stiffness, cause ventricular remodeling and increase adverse cardiovascular risk eventually. It is strongly evident that optimal antihypertensive therapy will reduce the risk induced by hypertension, however, very few proportion of patients with hypertension can reach the recommended target of blood pressure (BP) control. So far little knowledge has been illuminated for effect of blood pressure control status on the myocardial fibrosis in hypertension. T1 mapping and extracellular volume (ECV) quantified by CMR has been adopted as a good method in examination of diffuse fibrosis. Besides, variation of serum fibrosis biomarkers may also reflect the degree of myocardial fibrosis. Based on the above we hypothesised that there was a correlation between ECV, serum fibrotic biomarkers and long-term BP control status in patients with essential hypertension.

High-resolution T1 mapping with ANGIE detects increased right-ventricular extracellular volume fraction in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension
Background Right ventricular (RV) failure is associated with increasing morbidity and mortality in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Pressure overload in PAH leads to a complex series of changes in cardiomyocytes and the extracellular matrix of the RV. Thus, quantitative T1 mapping of the RV to assess myocardial extracellular volume fraction (ECV) may be a valuable noninvasive marker of RV...
متن کاملLongitudinal stability of gel T1 MRI Phantoms for quality assurance of T1 mapping
Background Quantification of interstitial (diffuse) myocardial fibrosis by T1 mapping may prove useful in a range of conditions. Both native T1 maps and extracellular volume fraction (ECV) are being increasingly used clinically and have been shown to be sensitive to a wide range of conditions and associate with worse prognosis. However, quality control by T1 phantoms is essential [1,2] and thei...

PURPOSE To quantify extracellular matrix expansion with the cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) T1 mapping technique and the derived extracellular volume fraction (ECV) in diabetic cardiomyopathy (DbCM) patients and to detect the relationship among ECV, duration of diabetes, and diastolic function. MATERIALS Thirty-eight patients with diabetic cardiomyopathy (20 males, age 54.6 ± 8.6 year...
متن کاملMagnetic resonance imaging phantoms for quality-control of myocardial T1 and ECV mapping: specific formulation, long-term stability and variation with heart rate and temperature
BACKGROUND Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) phantoms are routinely used for quality assurance in MRI centres; however their long term stability for verification of myocardial T1/ extracellular volume fraction (ECV) mapping has never been investigated. METHODS Nickel-chloride agarose gel phantoms were formulated in a reproducible laboratory procedure to mimic blood and myocardial T1 and T2 val...
متن کاملCardiac extracellular volume quantified with T1 mapping techniques reflects degree of cardiac and neurological involvement in Hereditary Transthyretin Amyloidosis
Background Amyloidotic cardiomyopathy (AC) in Hereditary Transthyretin Amyloidosis (ATTR) determines prognosis and treatment options. Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) has shown its utility in the diagnosis and characterization of AC. Moreover, CMR T1 mapping techniques are useful to assess myocardial extracellular volume (ECV) fraction in AC. We hypothesized that ECV allows identification of AC...
